Florida And Georgia Homes At Risk

Between 2004 and 2007, U.S.-made drywall materials became limited following Hurricane Katrina and other devastating storms. China sent more than 500 million pounds of drywall to the U.S., with the bulk of it arriving in Florida ports and distributed for installation in homes throughout the state and surrounding areas.

The drywall was later found to be unhealthy because it contains waste materials from scrubbers used in coal-fired power plants. Health Departments in 23 states have since received health-related complaints linked to the drywall, with most coming from Florida residents.

With our expert air quality testing, we can tell you if your home is at risk.

What We Test For

We are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that can properly detect:

  • iron sulfide
  • carbon disulfide
  • sulfur dioxide
  • carbonyl sulfide
  • hydrogen sulfide

We Offer Comprehensive Services

Our Chinese drywall testing and removal services feature:

An air quality test to check for the presence of elemental sulfur and other contaminants.
Removal of the Chinese drywall based on the results of the air quality test. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) recommend removal of the drywall if the air quality test returns a positive reading for elemental sulfur.

Why You Need To Call Us

If defective Chinese drywall was installed in your home, you may suffer serious health issues, among them:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Persistent cough
  • Frequent headaches
  • Itchy and irritated eyes
  • Frequent runny nose or nose bleeds
  • Chronic sinus infections
  • Asthma attacks

The sulfur-containing drywall is also linked to premature corrosion problems, mainly affecting copper tubing and evaporator coils in air conditioners, plumbing, electrical wiring and water lines. However, you may also notice blackening and flaking of things made from silver, brass and chrome metals.

Preventative Measures Also Provided

Even if your home is not showing signs of bad drywall, you should have us do an air quality test. This allows you to:

Rule out the risk of contaminated drywall.
Know for sure that you and your family are living in a healthy home.
Have documentation that your home is Chinese drywall-free for home insurance purposes.
Provide proof to potential buyers if you ever decide to sell or rent your home.

You can trust our technicians to properly test and rid your home of the Chinese drywall problem. If you live in Florida, call 904-701-0806 or in Georgia call 404-721-1284 to discuss your concerns with one of our technicians and to learn about our free estimate.
